No Birds To Describe You

We are celebrating the release of Dan's new book We Share This School by getting together to sing and rhyme and clap along with a new episode of Noodle Loaf!

Our Clap It Back this week unusually unusual, even by our standards here at Noodle Loaf. Practice your rhythmic awareness while learning such important non-facts such as "Turnip is short for Turtle Nipple" and "Rutabaga is short for Ruth Bader's Bagel." This rhythm game also explores 4/4 and 3/4 time somehow. ✪

A special Tiny Song appearance by Kinetic Lawns with a live version of their song "No Birds to Describe You" from their album "1 Love Song." ✪

The echo song, We All Belong, was inspired by Dan's new book series about communities. This song celebrates our roles within our communities and helps develop a child's sense of pitch and rhythm. ✪

We finish the episode with a Finish The Pattern game all about breakfast. It goes by fast so try to keep up as we mix up breakfasts and switch up the fixins. ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids!  It's like a music lesson that happens once a year but stays with you for a lifetime.

Kablamski

It's getting hot in here, so plant some carrot seeds. I am getting so hot, I'm gonna plant some carrot seeeeds. There's a song about planting carrot seeds in this episode and those are not the lyrics. We don't do parodies. We do music for kids and that grown ups dig too. We do music empowerment through play. We jam out, you jam along.

The Echo Song in today's show, A Carrot Seed was inspired by my cousins' farm Soul Fire Farm in Upstate NY. Their farm sows veg and justice in equal measure and is definitely worth getting to know. To Do List: Sing along with this fun song for kids, Plant a carrot, Check out Soul Fire Farm. ✪

This Finish The Pattern game explores the music concept of timbre. Timbre is just a fancy way of saying the way a sound sounds. A guitar and a piano playing middle C play the same notes but have very different timbres. I think trying to find words to describe timbres makes for a fun vocab game that also nurtures a sense of music appreciation so stay tuned for the bonus round where we do just that! ✪

And since we're big fans of recycling, we recycle those patterns to play a game called Jam Along. If you're having fun and feeling empowered to be part of the band then you are doing it right! ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can do at the beach, at the pool or at the lakeside glampsite.

Feeling For Mangoes

Press play and brace yourself for some music games, a song about fruits and April Fools jokes aplenty. We'll play a drawing game called Guided Doodling where you will doodle a mystery drawing based on the narrated instructions. Will it be an octopus? Probably not, but maybe? A little more details on the various music activities beloooooow:

Finish The Pattern - Our pattern recognition game teams up with solfege for some real live music game fun. Fair warning, there are animal sounds and some amateur beatboxing. ✪

Echo Song - Mango Season - Our repeat after me style sing along song is all about some of our favorite fruits! Mangoes, watermelons and strawberries. A fun fact about this upbeat children's song is that you can insert whatever your favorite fruits or veggies are. If you love kohlrabi then you would just sing "Wake Me Up When Its Kohlrabi Season." This is a no judgement zone. You do you. ✪

Guided Doodle - Get yourself a pencil and paper, we are going to draw together. Noodle Loaf provides the classical music of Vivaldi and some instructions on how to draw a mystery drawing. You do your best to draw what we describe. There's a good chance you will draw something other than what we are imagining, but that's ok. The important thing is we are hanging out, listening to calm music and drawing together. ✪

We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can listen to in your sleep. April Fools! Awake is better.

Peck of Pumpkin Poodle

A little extra noodle in our loaf this go round to keep your family singing, rhyming, jamming and goofin’.

Clap it Back - We begin with a rhythm song for kids called Weird Picnic. This clapping game develops rhythmic awareness in children and has some fun with the very strange eating scenarios families have been experiencing recently. ✪

Rhyme Time - This rhyming game will grow a phonological wunderkind right in your home. It’s a children’s music activity that parents love too. ✪

Echo Song - Summer Is Hot - This kids song about summer celebrates sun with singing. Repeat after me styler songs are a great way to help kids learn musical pitch, rhythm and singing confidence. ✪

Kids Talking About Stuff - Kids have a candid discussion about skin color. Can it be it was all so simple then? ✪

Finish The Pattern - This music game develops pattern recognition and promotes the art of making music with your mouth be it for beatboxing or voice foley ✪

Jam Along - We end the show with a jam session. Break out your improvisational drumming chops and play along with this kid-friendly funky groove. ✪

✪✪✪ FAMILIES BELONG - the new board book from Dan Saks available from Penguin Random House ✪✪✪

Hot Beets

We got beets! And patterns that need finishing and song that need echoing and games that need YOU!

Hey Noodlinos! Have you checked out our new YouTube channel yet?  We're making vids inspired by the music games you know and love.  Check it out here! These videos are great for school brain breaks, car rides and dentist waiting rooms.

But first!!!

Finish The Pattern - In this pattern recognition game, kids learn about the upright bass and how a walking bass line works. It’s a jazz appreciation game that you can play with your face. ✪

Echo Song - There's a Zoo - This song was inspired by a video playdate my child was having with her friend. Her friend said, “want to see the zoo inside my closet?” And the typewriters were immediately off to the races here at Noodle Loaf HQ. It’s a repeat after me style children’s song which helps kids with ear training for pitch and singing confidence. ✪

Jokes - Kids like jokes. Jokes like kids. These are jokes for kids by kids. ✪

Jam Along - We make a rhythm on a tree and invite you to jam along with us. This game encourages nature play, creativity and funkiness. For fans of Waldorf, Montessori and nature schools. BYOSticks. ✪

Doodle-Dee-Doo

My kids have been loving the I Had A Rooster book by Laura Vaccaro Seeger recently, so we decided to put that song in this week's show.  It's a bona fide classic kids song and now you get to make animal songs along with us as we sing it.  PLUS we do what one does when a donkey sound presents itself to us...we jam it out.

I love a good pattern and we've got plenty of them on today's show.  We also update an old echo song that updated a different old echo song which I recently learned was an update of a really old echo song about the Canadian military.  Hello operator?  But the big news is we have a guest beatboxer laying the groove in our Jam Along segment.  Woot woot!
